Privacy & American Business' CPO 2000 Program

The Benefits

The greatest benefit the P&AB Program provides is the opportunity for CPOs to gain the tools and credentials necessary to be regarded as consumer privacy experts - both within and outside their organizations and for the CPO member organization to be seen as taking a leadership role in this volatile privacy arena. However, P&AB has developed a slate of additional benefits that make its CPO 2000 Program both unique and unparalleled.

" On June 5-6, 2000, member CPOs and a guest were invited to an assembly in Washington DC. This 2-day event included a one-day, face to face Washington Briefing featuring leaders from Congress, Executive Branch Agencies and Departments to discuss in detail and off-the-record the current trends in consumer privacy-related government regulation and legislation. The 2-day Peer Workshop focused on strategies, frontline experiences, case studies and solutions. The purpose of such an event was to bring together CPOs from various industries in both the on and offline environment to broaden their views and to network. Because of the positive response from the June 5-6 Washington Briefing and Workshop, a second meeting is set for September 19-20 at the Washington Marriott.

" The two most important aspects of being a CPO are being ahead of the privacy curve and being ahead of competitors. P&AB will commission Confidential White Papers that identify and study developing trends, written by P&AB's expert staff and others in the field and distributed to the CPO Members only. These papers will keep members ahead of the privacy curve and their non-member competitors.

" This coming November 28-30 P&AB will host its Seventh Annual National Conference and Privacy Practitioners' Workshop at the Washington Court Hotel in D.C. Attracting over 300 attendees worldwide, the Conference has been described as "the one business privacy conference you can't afford to miss." All of the players and new entrants onto the privacy scene - privacy advocates, government officials from around the world, corporate leaders and experts - come together to discuss privacy issues, trends and solutions. The Practitioners' Workshop has drawn kudos from business attendees for its immediacy in providing useful approaches. All CPO Members will receive two free registrations. Additional Conference Registration fees will be deeply discounted to CPO organization members.

" CPOs know the importance of staying in the know; however, time is always a concern. P&AB will distribute a bi-monthly newsletter that tracks and analyzes events and their effects on privacy policies and laws.

" Although monthly newsletters are timely and informative, a lot can happen quickly. CPO members receive a daily clipping service from the Institute for the Study of Privacy Issues (ISPI) to keep up to date in privacy issues around the world. P&AB will send a free bi-weekly email to help the CPO on the go. This service provides the latest breaking privacy news as it unfolds.

" In addition to the exclusive Confidential White Papers and bi-weekly PrivacyExchange NewsFlash emails, CPO Members will receive 10 free subscriptions to the award winning P&AB Report for themselves and colleagues they designate. Reaching approximately 4,000 readers worldwide, these reports provide timely information and expert analysis to keep corporate leadership, line and operational staff on the same page with developments. Subscribers include top-ranking officials in the private and public sectors, privacy practitioners and corporate leaders in the U.S. and abroad.

" P&AB has also arranged for CPO's to receive complimentary membership in the Institute for the Study of Privacy Issues (ISPI) and to receive their daily ISPI clipping service. This daily privacy briefing is the most up-to-date source of information on privacy news here and around the world.

" Full CPO2000 members will be founding members of the Association of Corporate Privacy Officers and eligible to join the ACPO Organizing Committee.

" Finally, in addition to the Washington Briefing and Peer Workshop and Seventh Annual National Conference, P&AB holds numerous events throughout the year that all CPO Members will invited to attend at special member rates.
